Filipinos aren’t doing so good with Express Entry

Canada’s flagship application management system for its key economic immigration programs, Express Entry, saw another banner year as reported in the Express Entry Year End Report 2017.

Unfortunately, it was not a banner year for applications made by Filipinos.

Out of the 86,022 applications made under the Express Entry System in 2017, just over 1% were from Filipinos.

1,147, to be exact.

Out of that number, only 504 actually came from the Philippines. The rest either came from other countries, or were already in the country at the time of their Canada visa applications.

What’s the number one country for successful Express Entry Canada applications?

India, with over 42% of successful Entry Express applications filed.

That’s 36,310 successful applications from India alone.

When it comes to Express Entry, applications from one country does better than anyone else.

India outranks every other source country when qualifying for a Canada visa for immigration, including the Philippines.

Successful applications are chosen from the pool, and are issued invitations to apply for permanent residency during each Canada Express Entry Draw.

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) reports that in 2017, 42% of the total number of successful Express Entry applications were made by people from India.

This was even better than in 2016, when applications from India were only 33% of the total number of successful applications.

To put things in perspective, compare this number to successful applications from China. In 2017, there were 36,310 successful applications from India.

In 2017, there were only 7,466 successful applications from China. The Philippines doesn’t even crack the top 10.

The Express Entry System accepts applications from people already residing in Canada, as well as applications made by people outside of Canada.

China and India are the two most populous countries in the world.

Language proficiency is an important factor when applying under the Express Entry System. English is an official language in India (it’s not in China).

There are also a large number of Indians already living in Canada.

Having relatives in Canada is another important factor when submitting an application under the Express Entry System. The minimum scores varies per draw, but each application must meet the minimum requirements for the Canada cut off for express entry to even be included in the pool.

People from India are drawn to Canada for the same reasons as everyone else: high quality of life, safety and security, a stable political system and a healthy economy.

Applications from India benefit from having highly-skilled workers with backgrounds in information technology, which is highly sought after by Canadian tech companies.

To improve their chances for a successful application, applicants must maximize their Canada Express Entry eligibility points. Only the top applicants will receive a Canada Express Entry invitation to apply for permanent residency.

Express Entry for skilled workers Canada will continue to be an attractive program for talented individuals who are looking for a better life for their families.
