Agahan Filipino Stampede Breakfast


The Calgary Stampede is a yearly rodeo held in Calgary, Alberta. Held in July, the Calgary Stampede is known as “The Greatest Show On Earth”.

The Calgary Stampede attracts over a million visitors a year. While there have been rodeos have been conducted since 1886, it wasn’t until 1912 that the name Stampede was used. It wasn’t until 1923 that it became a yearly event known as the Calgary Exhibition and Stampede.

The Calgary Stampede is one of Canada’s largest festivals, and is Calgary’s premier tourist attraction. During the Stampede, everyone in Calgary joins in the fun, wearing gallon hats and boots.


The province of Alberta is home to over 175,130 Filipinos.


The city of Calgary is home to over 70,660 Filipinos.


Consul General Gilberto Asuque led the Filipino community in Calgary in celebrating the Calgary Stampede with a Filipino breakfast.

The Agahan Filipino Stampede Breakfast was held at the Pacific Hut Restaurant & Bakeshop in Calgary.

On the menu was longganisa, pandesal, scrambled eggs, friedc rice and coffee. Canadians from different backgrounds came to join members of the Filipino community for breakfast, including Premier Rachel Notley of the Province of Alberta.

Asuque and Notely helped serve over 5,500 Canadians who came for a taste of Filipino breakfast.

Entertainment was provided by Filipino Canadian performers.

The Province of Alberta recently declared the month of June as Philippine Heritage Month in Alberta.

The Agahan Filipino Stampede Breakfast was organized by the Philippine Fiesta Council of Alberta.
