For the unfamiliar, Jollibee is a fast food company from the Philippines.

Jollibee has more than 1,200 locations all over the world, with seven currently open in Canada.

Starting as an ice cream shop in Manila, Jollibee has grown over the years, managing to stave off competition in the Philippines from more established brands like McDonalds.

Jollibee opened its first Canadian location in 2016.

Winnipeg, Manitoba was chosen as Jollibee’s first location in Canada. Fitting, as the city also served as Filipinos first known entry point into the country in the 1950s.

Filipinos lined up in winter weather for hours just to have a taste of Jollibee’s famous fried chicken and spaghetti.

Today, there are seven Jollibees all across Canada, with a target of opening a total of 100 in five years.

Jollibee has all the standard fast food menu items, all with a Filipino twist.

Looking for fried chicken? Jollibee can hook you up. Jonesing for some spaghetti? Jollibee has the reddest spaghetti on the planet (plus, it has hot dogs). Ever thought you’d be the kind of person to put a big slice of pineapple in your hamburger? Then Jollibee is the place for you!

• Jolly Spaghetti Family Pack (saves 3-4) $14.99

Getting a family pack of Jolly Spaghetti will feed a family of four (or two very hungry adults). They have the party pack, but unless you haven’t had Filipino spaghetti for a while, the family pack is probably a better deal.

• C4 Jolly Crispy Chicken (3 pieces with 2 sides & soda) $11.49

Two pieces of ChickenJoy is never, ever enough, which is why we recommend getting the three piece combo instead. It’s got three pieces, and comes with two sides and a soda.

• Jolly Crispy Chicken (Chickenjoy) Bucket Treat C Jolly Crispy Chicken Bucket (12 pieces), 4 sides (choice of steamed rice, mashed potatoes, buttered corn or French fries), 4 Peach Mango Pies $44.99

If you’re having company over, a bucket of ChickenJoy is the way to go. 12 pieces comes with 4 sides, and 4 Peach Mango Pies. Okay, maybe two buckets (just to be sure).

• Aloha Yum $7.49 (with French fries and soda) $9.49

You know what’s better a hamburger? A hamburger with a slice of pineapple! You can’t get anymore tropical than an Aloha Yumburger from Jollibee.

• Burger Steak (3 pieces and 1 side, with soda) $8.99 (3 pieces and 2 sides, with soda) $9.99

If you’re not a big fan of hamburger buns, you can still enjoy a trip to Jollibee by ordering a Burger Steak. It’s a hamburger without the buns, and comes with gravy and rice. Can’t get any more Filipino than that.

• Peach Mango Pie $2.99

Last but least, it’s the Peach Mango Pie. It’s the perfect end to a Jollibee meal, puff pastry with a peach mango filling. Even if you’re not a big fan of fast-food, a trip to Jollibee for Peach Mango Pies is always worthwhile.

If you are a Canadian citizen or permanent resident, you can apply to join the team at Jollibee Thornhill.

Having work experience is a plus, but having worked for Jollibee is even better.

All seven Jollibee locations are currently company-owned, but in order to reach their 100 stores in 5 years plan, they’ll have to open things up to franchising at some point.

Jollibee’s International franchising program provides training, giving people interested in running their very own store the skills they will need to run a successful Jollibee.

What are the requirements, you may ask?

You’ll have to have a minimum net worth of USD$5,000,000 for starters. Depending on the location, you’ll also need to pony up up to USD$800,000.

You’ll also need to submit a proposal, including:

• Letter of Intent ( please include your exact mailing address and contact numbers)

• Applicant’s detailed resume.

• Profile of the company.

• Demographic and economic information of the market you are interested to franchise in. Potential customers, including estimated number of Filipinos, and other nationalities.

• List of possible sites that you, or your company can acquire

• Financial records showing financial liquidity, total assets, your capability or of your company’s to fund the Jollibee stores you plan to put up.

They don’t have a date announced when they’ll be opening it up to franchising, but you might as well get a move on and contact them to let them know you’re interested.
