Canadian winter clothing manufacturer Canada Goose has teamed up with Korean designer Jung Wook Jun to release a four-piece winter gear collection that “fuses function first design with an experimental aesthetic”.

The collection was first shown to the public during the Paris Fashion week.

Canada Goose is a Canadian winter clothing manufacturer headquartered in Toronto, with factories in Toronto and Winnipeg.

Canada Goose makes different kinds of jackets, parkas, vests, hats, gloves and shells which are available online and at physical retail stores.

Founded by Polish-Jewish immigrant Sam Tick in 1956, it started out as Metro Sportswear Limited, which made vests, raincoats and snowmobile suits.

It wasn’t until the 1970s that they started making down-filled parkas and jackets, which they made for Canadian Rangers, as well as local police departments and the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).

They also provided winter gear for a number of Government of Canada ministries, including the Ministry of Environment and the Ministry of Correctional Services.

Originally called “Snow Goose”, they were forced to rebrand to “Canada Goose” after finding out that the name was taken in Europe.

Canada Goose became a public company in 2017, after expanding worldwide. It has two flagship stores in the United States, one in New York and the other in Chicago at the Magnificent Mile Centre.

Canada goose is extremely popular with the 16 to 24 year old demographic.

Canada Goose’s flagship store in Beijing saw long lines when it opened, with a school in the UK banning students from wearing the expensive winter gear to “poverty-proof” the school environment. People in Chicago have been robbed because of their Canada Goose coats.

Jung Wook Jun is the Korean designer behind the fashion label juun.j.

He gained a loyal following after graduating from ESMOD in Seoul.

He set up shop in Europe, where his deconstructed trench coat proved to be very popular.

Juun.j’s modern, gender flexible approach to fashion takes inspiration from Korean street culture.

The collaboration between the Canadian winter clothing manufacturer and the Korean fashion house is a combination of function and style.

Canada Goose’s functional expertise and Juun.j’s modern approach resulted in three parkas and one hoody that’ll keep you warm and stylish.

There are four pieces in the Synthesis collection: the Expedition Parka, the Resolute Parka, the Snow Mantra Parka and the Ashcroft Hoody.
