The Vancouver Asian Film Festival (VAFF) will be featuring three Filipino movies. This year’s VAFF will be held at the Cineplex Odeon International Village Cinemas in Chinatown on November 7 to November 10.
BECOMING LABRADOR, EMPTY BY DESIGN AND YELLOW ROSE TO SCREEN AT VAFF
The three films are Becoming Labrador, Empty by Design and Yellow Rose.
Becoming Labrador is directed by Rohan Fernando, Tamara Segura and Justin Simms. The film is narrated by Epitacia Bruce and tells the story of the first Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) to arrive in Labrador in 1966.
Becoming Labrador will be shown on Friday, November 8 at 7:00pm.
Empty by Design is directed by Andrea A. Walter. It stars Rhian Ramos and Osric Chau who play two friends who return home to the Philippines after being away for many years.
Empty by Design will have its Canadian premiere on Saturday, November 9 at 7:30pm.
Yellow Rose is directed by Diane Paragas and stars Eva Noblezada who plays an undocumented OFW in a small Texas town dreaming of becoming a country star.
Yellow Rose will be the closing film for the festival. It will be shown at 7:30pm on Sunday November 10, followed by the VAFF 2019 Awards Ceremony.
