Everyone plays the lottery in Canada, but it seems that one community consistently wins big time: Filipinos! Three friends from Winnipeg in the province of Manitoba took home a CAD 1 million prize, tax free! Congratulations to all of you!
THREE COWORKERS WIN BIG TIME AFTER SHARING LOTTO 6/49 TICKET
Edilberto Santos, Bernard Yumang and Eugenia Santoyo bought their Lotto 6/49 ticket at their local convenience store.
Pop & Shop, located at 701 Regent Ave. W. sold them the lucky ticket worth CAD 1 million (approximately PHP38,406,804.75).
The cash prize will be split between the three of them.
Lottery winners names and photos are made public in Canada, at the time their prizes are claimed.
During the press conference at the Western Canada Lottery Corporation, Santos shared his reaction after finding out that they won.
“Holy smokes, one million? No way! I didn’t believe it until I called customer care and they said ‘Congratulations’!”
His fellow winners intend to spend their money on a vacation to the Philippines, as well as a Caribbean cruise with their families.
ABOUT LOTTO 6/49
There are three national lottery games available in Canada, one of which is Lotto 6/49.
When it was first made available to the public, Lotto 6/49 was unique because it was the first game to let players choose their own set of numbers.
To play Lotto 6/49, you can choose six different numbers from an available 49. Each line costs CAD3.00 to play.
With a minimum jackpot of CAD 5 million, there is also a guaranteed CAD 1 million prize during every draw.
Lotto 6/49 is drawn every Wednesday and Saturday.
