Undeclared Dependents

Did you forget to declare an immediate family member on your original Permanent Residency application? Canada’s ministry for immigration Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has launched a brand new two year pilot program for Family Reunification so you can sponsor your undeclared dependents.

SPONSOR YOUR UNDECLARED DEPENDENTS

The pilot program will allow previous immigrants to sponsor undeclared family members to come to Canada.

When you apply for Permanent Residency in Canada, you are supposed to declare every single member of your immediate family.

Immediate family includes your spouse, common-law partner, dependent children and dependent children of your dependent children.

In most cases, failure to declare a family member on your Permanent Residency Application will prevent you from sponsoring that family member in the future.

NEW PILOT PROGRAM EFFECTIVE SEPTEMBER 9

The new pilot program became effective on September 9, 2019. You can now apply to sponsor immediate family members who were not initially declared.

This pilot program is specifically for Permanent Residents who came to Canada as a Convention Refugee, a Protected Person or were sponsored as a spouse, common-law partner, conjugal parter, or dependent child.

GOVERNMENT OF CANADA COMMITTED TOWARDS FAMILY REUNIFICATION

The pilot program is reflective of the Government of Canada’s commitment towards the protection of vulnerable people and family reunification.

The pilot program will allow IRCC to monitor and assess the number of applications to make sure that no issues arise from the application process.
