The City of Toronto has opened up several new COVID-19 testing centres as the province of Ontario ramps up testing.

The COVID-19 testing centres provides screening, assessment and testing for individuals who are experiencing possible symptoms of COVID-19.

Patients can call ahead to book an appointment or walk-in during hours of operation. Patients will be assessed by a physician or a nurse and a test will be conducted if the assessment indicates that one is required.

COVID-19 testing is similar to those undertaken for other respiratory illnesses, which involves taking a sample from the nasal cavity using a swab.

Individuals who test positive for COVID-19 will be asked to follow Public Health guidelines. Test results are generally available within 72 hours.
