If you are going to Canada as a tourist, an international student, an Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) or as a new immigrant, you will need to apply for a visa. The Government of Canada has made arrangements with private companies called Canada Visa Application Centres (CVACs) around the world to facilitate visa applications. The Visa Application Centre Philippines authorized to provide visa services by the Government of Canada is VFS Global.

VFS Global has two locations in the Philippines, one in Makati City and the other in Cebu City.

VFS Global provides visa services for all Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) applications (for tourists, international students and Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs)), as well as applications for travel documents for new immigrants to Canada (permanent residents).

VFS Global only schedules appointments, provide biometrics services and returns passports in sealed envelopes.

VFS Global does not make any decisions regarding visa applications, nor does it respond to any questions about the visa application process or pending applications.

Visa Application Centres around the world start opening (but not yet in the Philippines)

With governments around the world starting to ease COVID-19 related restrictions, some Visa Application Centres (VACs) have started to open with limited services. Unfortunately, the Visa Application Centre in the Philippines is not one of them.

VACs are authorized to collect biometrics, which are part of the requirements for applications for Temporary Resident Visas (TRVs) to Canada.

According to VFS Global, the official VAC for the Philippines, they will be closed until further notice.

Marco Mendicino, the minister in charge of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) issued Ministerial Instructions on June 9, 2020, preventing the submission of paper applications until June 30, 2020.

All applications for TRVs will continue to be made online at https://www.canada.ca/en/services/immigration-citizenship.html.

All paper applications made after April 9, 2020 will be returned.

All TRV applications that do not meet Canada’s current travel restriction exemptions will also be suspended until further notice.

  1. Hi,

I received an email from cic to send my passport to finalize processing application for temporary residence.
I have all the passport requirements. However, my question is what courier will I use to send my passport and I read somewhere that in my $C185 fee some services is included like sending documents. Do I still need to pay for courier fee (including return fee) to send my passport to VFS. Thank you and Keep safe!
