Philippine travel restrictions

Philippines travel restrictions are currently in effect due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Make sure you meet all requirements before making travel arrangements.

The Philippine Government will relax travel restrictions on travellers from countries which have confirmed cases of COVID-19 variants, including Canada.

The Philippine Government had previously imposed additional travel restrictions on travellers from countries that had identified confirmed cases of new variants of the COVID-19 virus, including Canada.

Travellers from the United States, China, Japan and Australia were also included in the Philippine Government’s travel restrictions.

Travellers with work visas issued by the Philippine Government, as well as spouses of Philippine citizens.

The Philippine Government has already identified 17 cases of the COVID-19 variant first identified in the United Kingdom.

Avoid non-essential travel and all cruise ship travel outside Canada until further notice.

Mandatory COVID-19 testing

All travellers 5 years old and above are required to present a negative COVID-19 test result before being allowed to board aircraft bound for Canada. The COVID-19 test must have been taken not more than 72 hours before their scheduled departure.

All Canadians are advised to exercise a high degree of caution when travelling to the Philippines, due elevated threats of terrorism and high crime levels.

All Canadians are advised to avoid all travel to the following Philippine provinces due to elevated threats of terrorism and high crime levels:

Basilan
Cotabato
Lanao del Norte
Maguindanao
Misamis Occidental
North Cotabato
Sarangani
South Cotabato
Sultan Kudarat
Sulu
Tawi-Tawi
Zamboanga del Norte
Zamboanga del Sur
Zamboanga Sibugay

All Canadians are also advised to avoid all travel to the southern Sulu Sea, including south of Palawan due to elevated threats of piracy and kidnappings.

All Canadians are advised to avoid non-essential travel to Eastern Mindanao due to elevated threats of terrorism, high crime levels and military activity:
