CANADA 2016 CENSUS

According to the Canada 2016 Census, the detailed enumeration of Canadian residents undertaken by Statistics Canada. The Canada 2016 Census had the Canadian population at 35,151,728. The report, called “Census In Brief – Ethnic and Cultural Origins of Canadians: Portrait of a Rich Heritage”, Canadians reported over 250 ethnic origins or ancestries. In a population of more than 35 million people, almost 20 million individuals reported having European origins. FILIPINOS IN CANADA

According to the Canada 2016 Census, there are now more than 837,130 Filipinos in Canada, 2.3% of the Canadian population. Statistics Canada’s report titled “Immigration and ethnocultural diversity: Key results from the 2016 Census”, the Filipino community in Canada has doubled in the past 10 years. Filipinos in Canada are closing in on the top three largest visible minority groups in Canada: Blacks (1,198,540), Chinese (1,577,060) and South Asians (1,924,635). Statistics Canada’s report “Immigration and Diversity: Population Projections for Canada and its Regions, 2011 to 2036” projected that by 2036, more than half of Canada’s immigrant population would be from China, India and the Philippines.
