When it comes to Express Entry, applications from one country does better than anyone else.
That country? India.
EXPRESS ENTRY: CANADA’S FRAMEWORK FOR IMMIGRATION
Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) reports that in 2017, 42% of the total number of successful Express Entry applications were made by people from India.
This was even better than in 2016, when applications from India were only 33% of the total number of successful applications.
To put things in perspective, compare this number to successful applications from China. In 2017, there were 36,310 successful applications from India.
In 2017, there were only 7,466 successful applications from China. The Philippines doesn’t even crack the top 10.
The Express Entry System accepts applications from people already residing in Canada, as well as applications made by people outside of Canada.
WHY ARE APPLICATIONS FROM INDIA DOING SO WELL IN THE EXPRESS ENTRY SYSTEM?
China and India are the two most populous countries in the world.
Language proficiency is an important factor when applying under the Express Entry System. English is an official language in India (it’s not in China).
There are also a large number of Indians already living in Canada.
Having relatives in Canada is another important factor when submitting an application under the Express Entry System.
People from India are drawn to Canada for the same reasons as everyone else: high quality of life, safety and security, a stable political system and a healthy economy.
Applications from India benefit from having highly-skilled workers with backgrounds in information technology, which is highly sought after by Canadian tech companies.
